Quandamooka traditional owners say a proposed Queensland law to extend sand mining on Stradbroke Island will breach their native title and be in contempt of Federal Court orders.
At a parliamentary committee hearing the Quandamooka called for an inquiry into 16 year extension of mining to 2035.
Multi-national Belgian miner Sibelco has the rights to mine the world's second largest sand island, off the coast of Brisbane.
