Traditional owners say a proposed Queensland law to extend sand mining on Stradbroke Island will breach their native title.

Quandamooka traditional owners say a proposed Queensland law to extend sand mining on Stradbroke Island will breach their native title and be in contempt of Federal Court orders.

At a parliamentary committee hearing the Quandamooka called for an inquiry into 16 year extension of mining to 2035.

Multi-national Belgian miner Sibelco has the rights to mine the world's second largest sand island, off the coast of Brisbane.

Stefan Armbruster spoke with Quandamooka Yoolooburrabee Aboriginal Corporation head Cameron Costello .
