CSKA Moscow cop racial abuse punishment

CSKA Moscow's Champions League match against Bayern Munich will be played in a partially closed stadium as punishment for racial abuse by fans.

CSKA Moscow's punishment for fans racially abusing Manchester City players at a Champions League match will be to play Bayern Munich in a partially closed stadium.

UEFA says its disciplinary panel found the Russian champion guilty for its fans' "racist behavior" during Man City's 2-1 win in Moscow last week.

City captain Yaya Toure directed referee Ovidiu Hategan toward fans making monkey noises at the English club's black players.

The Romanian referee is also being investigated by UEFA for not pausing the match to order a stadium announcement warning fans.

CSKA's punishment will apply when defending champions Bayern visits Arena Khimki on November 27.

CSKA can appeal the closure order of section D at Arena Khimki.

UEFA has punished nine clubs this season for racist behavior by fans.
