Humanitarian organisation, Medecins Sans Frontieres, says the destruction from Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines has resulted in severely depleted medical supplies and support.
The organisation says medical stuctures have been damaged or destroyed, medical material washed away and many health staff remain unaccounted for.
It says it's employed an additional 50 people including medical personnel and psychologists and sent 330 tonnes of medical and relief items to the affected areas.
And it warns, while the physical impact on the population is evident, the psychological trauma is going to be lengthy and deeply scarring.
Medecins Sans Frontieres' Australian Executive Director, Paul McPhun spoke to Zara Zaher about the conditions.
