Curb on drinking hours mooted to cut alcohol-fulled violence

Police across Australia say they are becoming increasingly frustrated with the levels of alcohol-related violence on city streets each night - and there's talk of taking a leaf from New Zealand's.

Police across Australia say they are becoming increasingly frustrated with the levels of alcohol-related violence on city streets each night. 

The problem has led to an ongoing series of police crackdowns which have had varying success.

New Zealand this week opted to directly target liquor trading hours because of similar problems.

And there are experts in Australia who say they think that might be a good idea.
