Lock Francesco Minto has been called up to Italy's Six Nations squad for their opening two matches of the tournament against champions Wales and France after Marco Fuser was ruled out through injury.
Minto, 26 and capped seven times, replaces his Treviso clubmate, who is likely to be out for six weeks with a twisted left knee he suffered in Saturday's European Cup defeat by French side Montpellier.
Italy, who beat Ireland and France in last season's Six Nations, begin their campaign against Wales in Cardiff on February 1 and then play the French in Paris on February 9.
