The NSW government's package of laws aimed at reducing alcohol and drug-fuelled violence will now be made into law after passing both houses of parliament in the state.
Mandatory minimum sentencing laws are part of a large package of reforms including 1.30am lockouts and 3am last drinks in the CBD entertainment precinct.
Premier O'Farrell says the laws would remain open to future changes.
"Madam Speaker, it may be possible that from time to time this legislation needs to be tweaked - we will tweak it. We will make changes that are designed to make it more effective, that are designed to improve its operation," he said.
"Because the community message has been heard, that it is unacceptable to think it's ok to go out, to get intoxicated, to start a fight, to throw a punch and this legislation means that as a result people will face serious consequences."
