Syrian government 'destroyed entire neighbourhoods'

The Syrian government is being accused of destroying entire neighbourhoods, including thousands of homes, as punishment to opposition supporters.

A leading human rights group claims the Syrian government has destroyed entire neighbourhoods, including thousands of homes, as punishment to communities that back the opposition.

In a new report, Human Rights Watch alleges the Syrian government used bulldozers and explosives to wipe out neighbourhoods in Damascus and Hama in 2012 and 2013.

Researcher with the New York-based agency Ole Solvang told Hannah Sinclair satellite imagery was used to gather information for the report.
