Police fear they won't find a missing northwestern Queensland teen unless they receive new information about his disappearance.
Kyle Coleman, 17, has been missing for more than a week and a search spanning hundreds of kilometres around Mount Isa has failed to find any trace of him.
Kyle's parents, Rob and Sonia Coleman, have made a public plea for information, while posters of the missing teen are plastered on shopfronts around the outback city.
Mount Isa Inspector Trevor Kidd says police hold grave concerns for Kyle and need fresh information if they are to have any real hope of finding him.
"This is a real challenge for us now," Mount Isa Inspector Trevor Kidd told AAP on Sunday.
"We need more information.
"We've searched several hundreds of kilometres of roads and tracks and haven't found anything."
The last person thought to see Kyle was his best friend who took his own life on Wednesday.
Insp Kidd says there is no evidence to suggest the 21-year-old's death is in anyway linked to Kyle's disappearance.
The pair had visited Undilla station at Camooweal, west of Mount Isa, the day before Kyle disappeared.
Kyle was last seen at a house in the Soldiers Hill area of Mount Isa about 6am (AEST) on Saturday March 22.
It's believed he'd earlier attended a party and was intending to walk the three kilometres from Soldiers Hill to his Parkside home. But he never arrived.
More than 20 police officers, including investigators from Cairns, Townsville and Brisbane, and 60 locals have been involved in the search.
Eight helicopters were used on Friday but the aerial search has been scaled back.
Kyle was last seen wearing a black T-shirt with a white motif, a white flat Obey cap, a pair of light coloured shorts and skate shoes.
He is Caucasian with sandy coloured short hair, hazel eyes, he is of a slim build and approximately 173cm tall. He may have been carrying a green sleeping swag and backpack.
