Import guard Kerron Johnson has been released by the New Zealand Breakers, and won't be returning to the club next season.
Breakers chief executive Richard Clarke said the club had decided to move in a different direction in the point guard position and was releasing the American.
"As with any player, it's a tough call to let someone go, and in the case of Kerron there are outside factors leading to that decision," Clarke said.
"With the changes to the way the league is being played and refereed, the club has decided we need to look for a different type of player in that role."
Clarke said the decision was no reflection on Johnson, who had shown complete dedication to the club and his first season in the professional game.

"It is simply a case of looking for a different type of player in that position next season."
He said the club will be in a position to comment publicly next week about the likely shape of the roster and the types of players that coach Dean Vickerman will be looking to recruit.
After winning three NBL titles on end, the Breakers struggled this season, failing to reach the play-offs and finishing seventh out of eight teams.
