SBS scoops two awards at the Logies

SBS has won two awards at the Logies, with SBS drama 'Better Man' and SBS series 'Housos' being recognised.

SBS series Housos won the Most Outstanding Light Entertainment Program.

It beat ABC comedies It's A Date, Please Like Me and Upper Middle Bogan and the Nine Network's singing series The Voice in the peer-voted category.

Comedian Paul Fenech accepted the award.

"We make comedy for real battlers, real people," Fenech said.

"We've been pumping it hard for real Aussies in Australia.

"This is a great for win for a true people of Australia....against The Voice, c'mon, Ricky Martin."

Malaysian-born actor Remy Hii also won the Graham Kennedy Award for most outstanding newcomer for his starring role in the SBS drama, Better Man.

Remy played convicted drug trafficker Van Tuong Nguyen in the four-part series.

As part of the prize, he wins a trip to Hollywood, a one-year scholarship at Stella Adler Academy Of Acting And Theatre in Los Angeles, and industry mentoring.

SBS was nominated for 10 awards including in the news and current affairs section, documentary and the drama series, Better Man, which won its star Remy Hii the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Outstanding Newcomer.

SBS Indigenous network, NITV received its first Logie nomination, with Move it Mobstyle nominated in the Most Outstanding Children's Program category.

SBS Managing Director Michael Ebeid said he is delighted with the industry recognition.

“SBS’s success at this year’s Logie Awards is a testament to the bold and thought-provoking content SBS continues to deliver for all Australians, as well as the hard work and creativity of our talented team.

"...It is excellent to have the support of our audience and to receive such recognition from the industry”.
