Chile ended Spain’s efforts to seek a fourth consecutive major title, leaving the World Cup defending champions goal-less on Thursday.
Chilean fans in Sydney were elated as first-half goals from Eduardo Vargas and Charles Aranguiz remained untested in the second half of the match.
Some extra time near the final whistle prompted even more chanting from the Chilean spectators who wanted their victory then and there.
One fan, Pablo, said it's time for Spain's reign to end.
"[It's time] for Chile to win the World Cup," he said.
"We have a good team, a good feeling. [There's] support and passion for the country."
Chile will play The Netherlands next Tuesday.
