Memes have flooded social media platforms after Uruguay striker Luis Suarez reportedly bit Italy's Giorgio Chiellini.
Many users have taken to Twitter and Facebook to mock Suarez, comparing him to fictional cannibalistic serial killer Hannibal Lecter, vampires, and the shark from the film Jaws. Brands like Snickers have also capitalised on the trending meme.
The incident occurred during the decisive 2014 FIFA World Cup Group D clash in Natal, with Diego Godin knocking in the winner shortly after for a 1-0 win as Uruguay progressed at Italy's expense.
Suarez has previously been involved in such incidents at Ajax and Liverpool, and Juventus defender Chiellini has called on FIFA to take action against the forward.
"He bit me, it's clear, I still have the mark," Chiellini told Italian television station Rai after the match.
