Students sing together to celebrate music education

More than half a million Australian school children have taken part in a nationwide music event celebrating the role of music in education.

More than half a million Australian school children have taken part in a nationwide music event celebrating the role of music in education.

The eighth annual Music Count Us In Celebration Day involved students from more than two-thousand schools singing the same song, at the same time, across the country.

The intiative supports teachers to deliver music in the classroom and addresses a lack of training and experience in this specialist area.

In Melbourne, around 600 students took part in the main event at Federation Square.

Van Nguyen spoke to some of those involved, including Sue Arney from the Association of Music Educators.
