Australian Super Hornets have made 144 flights over lraq as part of 437 strike missions by coalition forces against IS.

In the latest briefing on Australia's Middle East operations, the Commander of Joint Operations Vice Admiral David Johnston said operations had been at "high tempo" in the past fortnight.

Vice Admiral Johnston said RAAF personnel had also planned and led coalition strikes against the IS insurgent force - a first for the Australian Task Group.

Director General Air Operations, Air Commodore Joe Iervasi, said the responsibility to lead a large multi-national force conducting a strike mission in lraq was recognition of the skills and professionalism of Australia's ATG personnel.

"The mission was a great success," he said.

"Every weapon was on time and on target. Key facilities used to mount attacks on the people of lraq were destroyed."
