Gold Coast man Gable Tostee has been ordered not to pick up any new women on social media after he was granted bail over the murder of a tourist he met on the dating app Tinder.

Tostee has been in jail since he was charged with murdering New Zealand woman Warriena Wright in August.

Ms Wright plunged to her death from Tostee's 14th-floor apartment balcony in Surfers Paradise after the pair met on Tinder and spent the evening drinking and having sex.

In the Supreme Court in Brisbane, Justice Debra Mullins granted the 28-year-old bail on strict conditions, including banning him from using Tinder or any other form of social media to meet women.

If he breaches the order he's likely to end up back behind bars.

"Apart from refraining from using Tinder, the applicant must also refrain from using social media forums to arrange meetings with any women whom he has not been acquainted or met previously at the time of the making of this bail order," she said.

Tostee is also banned from drinking alcohol, has to attend alcohol rehabilitation programs and will be subject to random breath tests.

He'll have to live with his parents, who had put up a $200,000 surety to secure his release.

Justice Mullins accepted Tostee's legal team's argument that he would not try to flee because his high public profile would ensure he wouldn't be able to hide from authorities.

Prosecutors had argued the threat of a 20-year jail term would be incentive enough for Tostee to run but Justice Mullins said the case against Tostee wasn't straightforward.

"I am satisfied the applicant has shown cause as to why his detention in custody is not justified," Justice Mullins said.

Tostee was not in court for the ruling, but will be released from Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre on Wednesday.

Justice Mullins suppressed the name of the facility where Tostee will seek treatment for alcohol use disorder.

She also ordered a transcript of a recording Tostee made of the night when Ms Wright died, and his psychiatric report, be sealed and not available to the public until a court order says otherwise.

Tostee's case will return to the Southport Magistrates Court on January 12.

He is also facing other charges including obstructing police, creating a public nuisance and driving offences unrelated to Ms Wright's death.
