Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko will visit Australia next week.
Among his activities will be a speech to the Lowy Institute in Sydney on December 12.
During his visit he is expected to discuss the security situation in eastern Ukraine and its impact on international relations, as well as the links between Australia and his country.
Mr Poroshenko was elected in May, having previously been a businessman, foreign minister and minister for trade and economic development.
Prime Minister Tony Abbott has taken a close interest in Ukraine, particularly following the shooting down in July of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 killing 298 people including 38 Australians.
