Data: domestic violence affects thousands across NSW

New data has revealed the rate of domestic violence-related assault has remained 'stable' in NSW - but there were close to 30,000 assaults last year.

Street violence and domestic violence

Domestic violence rates are stable in NSW, but the problem affecting thousands is significant.

There were close to 30,000 reported domestic violence-related assaults in NSW during the 12 months ending September, the NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research said.

Domestic violence is often unreported.

There were many other forms of domestic violence, like emotional and psychological abuse, intimidation, harassment, stalking, sexual assault and others, NSW Police said.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence in NSW, you can ring the Domestic Violence Line for help on 1800 656 463, or 131 444.
