8 positive doping case from weight worlds

Weightlifting again under the doping spotlight, with eight positive tests arising from the recent world championships in Kazakhstan.

Eight weightlifters - including two gold medallists - have been provisionally suspended after failing doping tests at last month's world championship in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

The International Weightlifting Federation says North Korea's Kim Un Ju, who won the women's 75-kilogram category, tested positive for the steroids methyltestosterone and methandriol.

Albania's Daniel Godelli, who won the men's 77-kg category, tested positive for the steroid stanozolol.

North Korea's Hwa Ri Jong, a silver medallist in the women's 58-kg category, tested positive for clenbuterol.

Also testing positive were two other lifters from Albania and three from Uzbekistan.

The IWF says the backup "B" samples from all eight lifters will be tested before any final sanctions are determined.
