#jesuischarlie: Thousands tweet solidarity with victims of Paris attack

The hashtag #JeSuisCharlie, which means 'I am Charlie', is trending worldwide after an attack in the newsroom of French magazine Charlie Hebdo left 12 dead.

Social-media users have flooded Twitter with messages of shock and sadness over an attack in Paris overnight that left 12 dead.

Masked gunmen stormed the office of satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, killing 12 people and critically injuring eight.

The hashtag #JeSuisCharlie, or "I am Charlie", is now trending on Twitter worldwide.

Charlie Hebdo has replaced the front of its online homepage with a black screen and the phrase "Je suis Charlie" in bold white letters.
