NSW Premier Mike Baird had posted a video of himself reading critical tweets on YouTube with “Everybody Hurts” by R.E.M. and “Shake It Off” by Taylor Swift playing in the background.
The clip – posted one month before NSW heads to the polls – has since been pulled offline due to a copyright claim by Warner Chappell, the company behind the hits.
Mr Baird said he is working with YouTube and R.E.M's label to resolve a copyright issue that led to his video being removed from the site.
"Mean tweets video removed," Mr Baird tweeted on Friday.
"Working with YouTube and Warner to resolve. Fact: everybody hurts, sometimes."
The video was widely circulated prior to its axing, showing Premier Baird smiling as he read out tweets describing him as a devil and a “smiling assassin”.
"Mike Baird, I knew you were in Newcastle yesterday coz I could smell the stench of sulfur coming from your pitchfork from over 10 miles away," he said.
He also made some criticism of his own, confirming the truth behind a tweet stating that he hated Justin Bieber.
"Yeah, of course I hate Justin Bieber. Who doesn't hate Justin Bieber?"
