Irish make two changes for rugby decider

Ireland need to beat Scotland to have any chance of retaining their title on the last weekend of the Six Nations rugby tournament.

Ireland's New Zealander coach Joe Schmidt on Thursday made two changes to his starting XV ahead of the crunch Six Nations decider against Scotland on Saturday.

Wing Luke Fitzgerald replaces Simon Zebo on the left while Cian Healy comes in for Jack McGrath at loosehead prop for the clash at Murrayfield.

McGrath drops to the bench while Zebo misses out altogether.

It will be Fitzgerald's first Test start in four years and his first selection since November 2013.

The 27-year-old, who has been in fine recent form for Leinster, had struggled with a groin problem over the last two years.

He has not started a game for Ireland since the 19-12 World Cup warm-up defeat to France in August 2011.

Healy, meanwhile, makes his return to the starting line-up at the expense of his Leinster teammate after impressing off the bench during the championship.

McGrath had held onto the loosehead position since Healy was ruled out of the November tests with a hamstring injury.

Paul O'Connell will set a new record as Ireland's oldest ever captain at 35 years and 152 days, pushing out the previous mark he equalled against Wales last week when matching Mick Galwey.

Jamie Heaslip will equal David Wallace's record caps for an Irish back-row of 72.

Ireland need to win the match and overturn a points difference of +4 to England in order to retain their title, while also potentially holding off a challenge from Wales, should they earn a heavy victory in Italy.

Ireland (15-1)

Rob Kearney; Tommy Bowe, Jared Payne, Robbie Henshaw, Luke Fitzgerald; Jonathan Sexton, Conor Murray; Jamie Heaslip, Sean O'Brien, Peter O'Mahony; Paul O'Connell, Devin Toner; Mike Ross, Rory Best, Cian Healy

Replacements: Sean Cronin, Jack McGrath, Martin Moore, Iain Henderson, Jordi Murphy, Eoin Reddan, Ian Madigan, Felix Jones
