'I’ve fixed it': Christopher Pyne solves Darth Vader’s problems in Star Wars spoof video

Education minister Christopher Pyne may have become Hollywood's newest villain thanks to a Star Wars spoof video that cast him as one of Darth Vader's henchmen.

The parody video debuted on ABC TV's Insiders on Sunday, with video editor Huw Parkinson mashing up grabs from Mr Pyne's interview with Sky News' David Speers into a scene from Star Wars Episode IV ‘A New Hope’.

Last week the Senate blocked the federal government's proposed deregulation of universities for a second time, after Mr Pyne failed to win over crucial crossbenchers. But Mr Pyne - who has nominated himself "a fixer" when it comes to education policy – vowed to push ahead with his plan to deregulate fees.

"Politics is a fast moving business," he told Sky News. "I'm a fixer, I fixed it by funding it in another way."

Mr Pyne refused to spell out where he would find the money, saying he wanted it to be a "surprise" in the May budget.

In the parody video, Mr Pyne can be seen reassuring concerned members of the Empire that he had “fixed it”.

"I’ve dealt with it. I’ve fixed it," he said, to the disbelief of his colleagues. “I have cleared that impediment away."
In response to the video, Mr Pyne tweeted that he was available for Star Wars V11 if director JJ Abrams was interested.
It's not the first time ABC's video editor Huw Parkinson has poked fun at Australian politics. His previous 'Seinfeld meets Australian parliament' mash-up video also went viral.
