A Senate inquiry has suggested a raft of recommendations to the Queensland government that are unlikely to be adopted, including a review of all Newman government legislation.
The 20 recommendations are in a report tabled in the Senate on Friday from an inquiry instigated by the Palmer United Party into the Queensland government.
The report calls for the state's Crime and Misconduct Commission to be replaced by a body similar to the Independent Commission Against Corruption in NSW.
It also seeks a moratorium on new approvals of coal seam gas and pushes for a ban on "fracking" in Queensland.
It also urges the review all former Newman government legislation "to determine its appropriateness and compatibility with social justice/natural justice requirements".
Labor senators have agreed with most of the report, but reject the recommendations concerning coal seam gas and fracking.
The lone Liberal National senator on the committee, Ian Macdonald, was not as forgiving, labelling the entire inquiry a farce and offering only two recommendations.
He said the total cost of the public inquiry should be made public and the report "should be consigned to the scrap heap".
"The Senate should resolve never again to establish a committee that is so blatantly political, so manifestly lacking in natural justice," Senator MacDonald said.
The Newman government described the inquiry as a political witch hunt by PUP leader Clive Palmer, who had a falling out with the Queensland LNP after it was elected in 2012.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk's office has been approached for comment.
