Two men charged with the fatal bashing of a gay man in a Perth toilet have been found guilty of murder.

Mark Taylor and Damien Wade Jones were accused of killing Warren Gerard Batchelor, 48, after they found him having sex with another man in a toilet block at Middle Swan Reserve in Caversham in November 2013.

The West Australian Supreme Court heard the pair barged in and punched, kicked and beat Mr Batchelor with a pole.

The pair then turned to the witness, threatening him with a knife.

"I saw my life flash before my eyes," the witness testified during the trial.

The witness then charged at the men and fled in his car with a friend.

Mr Batchelor regained consciousness after the bashing, but collapsed again and died two days later.

Taylor's lawyer, Simon Freitag, said his client had been camping with his children when he learnt that gay men often met there for sex.

Mr Freitag said it was shocking and confronting for Taylor, and he wanted the men to leave.

He said it was Jones who struck the victim with the pole, not Taylor, who did not harm Mr Batchelor.

Jones' lawyer, Paul Sullivan, said his client was not in the toilet at all and did not injure the victim.

The pair were convicted by a jury on Friday and have been remanded in custody.

They will be sentenced on April 17.
