Hundreds of mourners have packed Melbourne's Scots Church and city streets to farewell one of Australia's most prominent leaders, Malcolm Fraser.

The former Prime Minister - who died last week at 84 - was remembered for his compassionate work with the disadvantaged as well as his political toughness.

Bon Nguyen President of the Victorian branch of the Vietnamese Community in Australia, says Mr Fraser was a hero to Vietnamese refugees.

He spoke to Ron Sutton.
