Tens of thousands of Indians are choosing to call Australia home, beating the numbers of immigrants from China, the United Kingdom and New Zealand.
New government figures show that nearly one in five of the 207,900 migrants who settled permanently in Australia in 2013/14 came from India.
The number of people coming to Australia with Working Holiday Visas has declined, especially among Irish people.
The numbers of Irish people granted Australian Working Holiday visas shrank 37 per cent between 2012-13 and 2013-14 to 11,996 visas granted, while the number of Korean people granted Working Holiday Visas dropped 24 per cent to 26,893.
