Brooklyn-based The Way Station is bringing a new meaning to “ladies night” on July 7, when they put feminism on the menu with discounted drinks.

For one night only, the self-described “nerd mecca” will be charging its female patrons only 77 per cent of its listed prices in an attempt to highlight the gender wage gap.

The event has attracted global attention after an email promoting the event and the “shameful” wage gap went viral.

“Let's level the playing field, even if it is just for one night,” it read.

“Women deserve better. Recognizing this discrepancy is just a start.”

The bar also has a weekly “Teacher Appreciation Happy Hour” with discounted drinks, “brown bag snack packs” and a fundraising effort to cover potential budget cuts.
