The winning team of an international competition for a computer game will take away more than $US 6 million ($AU 8 million).

The total prize pool for the competition is over $AU 23 million and that figure is expected to grow.

The final match in the International Dota 2 Championships will be held in Seattle on August 8 (August 9 AEST) at Seattle's KeyArena, which has a seating capacity for more than 17,000 people.

Australians can watch the finals from 3.00am at a Sydney cinema where about 60 seats have already been taken.

Dota 2 is a multiplayer online battle arena game where players compete against others online. They can can also compete against computer-controlled enemy bots.

The International Dota 2 Championships sees teams of five players compete in front of cheering crowds.
One player in this year's tournament is Australian man Damien “Kphoenii” Chok from Sydney.

Kphoenii plays for transnational team MVP that is a wildcard in this year’s competition.

While some people enjoy playing computer games, others like to watch people play.

There is a weekly Youtube show dedicated to Dota 2 "fails". People create videos of playing other games such as Minecraft.
