Leaders have begun meeting in Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea ahead of the regional Pacific Islands Forum later this week.

Smaller island states have been formulating their position on climate change today.

 

It will be at the top of the full forum meeting agenda so they can take a united stand at the Paris climate talks in December.

 

Prime Minister Tony Abbott is due to attend later this week.
