Brendon McCullum says he's keen to move on from former teammate Chris Cairns' perjury trial and focus on breaking New Zealand's 30-year Test series drought in Australia.
The skipper missed a chunk of the Black Caps' build-up, having been called to give evidence in London on an alleged "business proposition" from Cairns in 2008.
He will sit out their tour opener against the Prime Minister's XI in Canberra on Friday, but will play a part in the two-day practice match from Saturday.
McCullum admitted his court appearance had been a distraction but was hopeful it wouldn't cloud his thinking against Australia.
"I had a job to do over there," he said on Thursday.
"Now I'm back here and very much focused on this series.
"Three Tests is going to be a huge opportunity for us but a massive challenge and that's where my focus will be.
"It's just nice to be around the boys again."
The Black Caps haven't won a series in Australia since 1985, but have arrived settled and on the back of impressive performances on tour in England and the Cricket World Cup earlier in the year.
