The Grand Mufti of Australia has issued a statement comdemning "all forms of terrorist violence".
Dr Ibrahim abu Mohamed and the Australian National Imams Council issued a clarification on Wednesday to "emphasise it is incorrect to imply that the reference to causative factors provides justification for these acts of terrorism".
"There is no justification for the taking of innocent lives," the statement said.
"The sanctity of human life is guaranteed in Islam."
On Tuesday the ANIC hit back at suggestions the Grand Mufti of Australia justified the deadly terrorist attacks in Paris.
Ibrahim Abu Mohamed drew criticism following the attacks for dismissing anti-terror strategies as ineffective, while saying the focus should be on Islamophobia, foreign policies and military intervention.
In response, the Council said in a statement on Wednesday the reference to causative factors was not justification for the acts of terrorism.
"There is no justification for the taking of innocent lives," the council said in a statement.
"The sanctity of human life is guaranteed in Islam."
The council did not specifically condemn the Paris attacks in its statement.
However, "Dr Ibrahim Abu Mohamed and ANIC have consistently and unequivocally condemned all forms of terrorist violence", it said.
The council referred to a 2014 statement from the Grand Mufti that stated Islamic State were criminals "committing crimes against humanity and sins against God".
"Sadly, in the Paris attacks, people of various faith backgrounds including Islam were brutally murdered," the council said.
