Australia's next World Cup qualifier will be played in South Australia.

The Adelaide Advertiser reports the Socceroos' next step to the 2018 tournament, scheduled against Tajikistan, will be hosted at Adelaide Oval on March 24.

The Socceroos last played competitive matches in the state in 2004.

Australia won a six-nation tournament against Oceania opposition on the road to the 2006 World Cup.

Australia sit top of their 2018 World Cup qualifying group after defeating Bangladesh 4-0 in Dhaka on Tuesday night.
