The federal government has introduced a suite of measures to simplify regulations surrounding the telecommunications industry.

The federal government is promising simpler and more flexible delivery of digital radio to regional Australia.

Measures to help the rollout, with priority being given to Canberra and Darwin, were part of a suite of measures to simplify broadcasting rules introduced to parliament by on Wednesday.

Some of them implement recommendations by the Vertigan review of the NBN, which Major Projects Minister Paul Fletcher said would provide greater certainty and clarity for the telecommunications industry.
