NZ fest in doubt after Soundwave scratched

Kiwi music festival Westfest is on the brink of cancelling as only one band is on the bill, after Aussie festival Soundwave collapsed.

Another Kiwi music festival looks set to bite the dust in the wake of an Aussie festival cancellation.

Westfest, a punk, metal and rock festival scheduled for January 30 in Auckland, has been hit hard by the cancellation of Aussie festival Soundwave.

Many acts due to perform at Soundwave had planned follow-up gigs in Auckland.

Headliners NOFX had cancelled its appearance at the Kumeu Showgrounds event and on its Facebook page, Westfest organisers announced they were unable to confirm whether the festival would continue, as only one band was left standing.

They offered 100 per cent refunds to ticket holders.

Last week two bands put off Auckland gigs in the midst of Soundwave fallout.

Disturbed were due to play the Vector Arena in Auckland on January 28, and the gig could be cancelled altogether if a new date can't be agreed on.

British rockers Bring Me The Horizon called off their January 21 show in Auckland, citing the Australia music festival's cancellation as the cause.
