Great Britain's clean sweep of Germany in their Hopman Cup tie has kept alive their chances of reaching Saturday's final.
Andy Murray and Heather Watson beat Alex Zverev and Sabine Lisicki 6-3 6-4 in the mixed doubles to wrap up the tie.
However, the Australia Green pairing of Nick Kyrgios and Daria Gavrilova only need to claim victory in their tie against the winless French team of Kenny De Schepper and Caroline Garcia on Friday night to earn a spot in the final against the Ukraine.
If Australia Green lose 1-2 to France then the winner of Group B will come down to the total number of sets won over the tournament.
Earlier, world No.2 Murray overcame a late surge from Zverev to win their singles match 6-3 6-4 in 78 minutes.
The 2015 Australian Open finalist was only broken once, when serving for the match the first time and then saved break points before closing out the match.
Watson is confident of a bold showing against the Ukraine team of Alexandr Dolgopolov and Elina Svitolina in the final if Britain make it.
World No.55 Watson has improved as the mixed-teams tournament has gone on and she produced her best performance of the week to beat Lisicki 6-3 6-4.
Watson lost just four points on her serve in the first set and broke Lisicki's serve three times for the match.
Watson said she is playing better than her ranking suggests and that she doesn't take much notice of pecking orders anyway.
"Today was, I am not going to say some of the best tennis I have played because the rallies were really short, but I feel like I have definitely got better," Watson said.
"Today, just when I was warming up before the match I knew I was feeling great in all aspects of my game."
Lisicki, 26, required treatment on her left quad after losing the opening set. The 26-year-old is returning from a knee injury that kept her sidelined after the US Open in August last year.
