Suspicious tyre fire at Melbourne factory

Police and environment authorities are investigating after a suspicious tyre fire at a Melbourne factory overnight.

A suspicious tyre fire at a rubber recycling plant in Melbourne is being investigated.

Firefighters were called to the Tottenham plant in the early hours of Saturday and worked through the night to extinguish a fire in a large pile of tyres, the Metropolitan Fire brigade says.

The Environment Protection Authority has launched an investigation to determine if too many tyres were loaded on the site.

The latest fire follows a massive tyre blaze in January that burnt for more than three days at a junkyard in the Melbourne suburb of Broadmeadows.
