Probe continues into copycat Qld abduction

Police continue to investigate the Cairns abduction of a woman who was allegedly hit in the face with a pole or bat before escaping through cane fields.

Investigations are continuing into the alleged "copycat" abduction of a Cairns woman who escaped through cane fields with a broken skull.

A 17-year-old girl is among three people to be charged over the incident, which was the second alleged abduction over a drug debt in Cairns in a week.

Police say the 32-year-old woman was hit with a pole or bat before being bound and driven to a park, where a large group of people disrupted her attackers.

The woman was then able to flee into fields, across train tracks and into a Chinese restaurant.

The girl and a woman, 24, were listed to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on a string of charges including deprivation of liberty and assault occasioning bodily harm on Saturday.

A 27-year-old man is due to appear later in the month.
