Australian teen star Minjee Lee has continued her good form as she prepares for next week's first women's golf major of 2016.

Lee fired a three-under-par 69 to be two shots off the lead after the first round of the LPGA Tour's Kia Classic in California.

The WA youngster has finished inside the top 25 in all six of her tournaments this year and will be seeking a breakthrough first major title at the ANA Inspiration at Rancho Mirage in California next week.

South Korea's Inbee Park shot a 65 to share the lead with American Brittany Lang, England's Jodi Ewart Shadoff and japan's Ai Miyazato.

World No.1 Lydai Ko of New Zealand was a shot back on 68 with American Jane Park and South Korea's Mi Jung Hur.

Best of the other Australians were veteran Karrie Webb, Sarah-Jane Smith and Sarah Kemp who had 73s.
