Police halt Toowoomba crime spree

Police have charged a man in Toowoomba with 65 offences following a month-long hunt.

Police have arrested a man who was allegedly responsible for a month-long crime spree in Toowoomba.

The 28-year-old man was arrested after police spotted a suspicious vehicle in the early hours and deployed a tyre deflation device to bring it to a halt.

It was a chance encounter, but officers had been tracking the vehicle following a spate of incidents in the past month.

The man was taken into custody without incident and will appear in Toowoomba Magistrates Court charged with over 65 offences, including 50 driving offences and six counts of theft.

Police will also allege he was in possession of a knife when he was arrested.
