It's been a tough journey for the 14-strong squad who all juggle full-time work away from their chosen sport.
Having reached the world cup in Colombia they now want to make some history.
But they must first front a major hurdle in their group which contains Brazil. Despite that, they believe they can go where no Australian team has been before.
"I believe we've got the squad to do that," player Dean Lockhart said.
A win against the only team ranked lower than Australia, Mozambique, in the opening match is vital. If that happens, even with Brazil up next, anything is possible.
Team captain Greg Giovanali told SBS before flying out, there is a good chance Australia can achieve their goal.
"If results go our way, the last group game against the Ukraine will be our grand final to get us through the group which will make history.”
The entire squad has made sacrifices to represent their country at the World Cup and coach Rob Varela couldn't be prouder.

"For an amateur team to reach a (Futsal) World Cup, especially through Asia, which is a very very strong confederation, is magnificent. "
And the enormity of their achievement has been lost on the team
"We're proud of what we do as amateurs" said player Greg Giovanali.
And so, with a little pride, passion and an ability to punch above their weight, the Futsalroos head to Colombia with the belief they can land a few surprises.
