Naked Melbourne rooftop stand-off ends

A naked man armed with a knife was in a stand-off with police on a Melbourne rooftop for about eight hours.

An elderly man who stripped off on his Melbourne roof and armed himself with a knife has ended his eight-hour stand-off with police.

Police were called to the Beswick Street, Clayton South, property about 2pm on Monday.

A police spokesman said the man was not threatening police.

He came down off the roof about 10pm and is being taken to hospital for assessment, the spokesman said.

The police Critical Response Team, paramedics, firefighters and State Emergency Service were called to the scene.
