The end-of-year donation drives of reproductive rights organisations such as Planned Parenthood, and individual rights groups such as the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), have received fundraising amounts far above regular tallies, according to The Guardian.
In total, Planned Parenthood has received more than 300,000 donations, or 40 times its normal rate, since the US election on November 8, a spokesperson from the organisation told The Guardian.
Seventy per cent were first-time donors to a family planning organisation.

The ACLU has reported a similar spike with its website crashing after the election amid a 7,000 per cent increase in traffic and $7 million in fundraising, a figure that has since reportedly escalated to almost $23 million.
“This is always our big time of year, but this year it’s huge,” Loretta Prescott, development director for the Immigration Legal Advocacy Project in Maine told the Guardian.
“Instead of giving gifts, people are making donations to causes they believe in.”
The administration of US president-elect Donald Trump, and his vice president Mike Pence, has been perceived as a threat to pro-choice supporters.
Women concerned over the potential limits to reproductive rights have begun taking to social media to express their fear.
