The family of a three-year-old girl flown to Perth after almost drowning in a Bali pool have made the agonising decision to turn off her life support.

The decision was made after Kawa Sweeney failed to respond to a series of tests run by staff at Princess Margaret Hospital.

"Unfortunately, in spite of all the hopes and prayers Kawa has lost her battle. Family are saying goodbye today," a statement from family spokeswoman Pearl Tan said on Thursday.

"We would like to thank everyone who has gone above and beyond in all of this."

The Sydney girl had been in an induced coma since she was found unconscious in a pool on the popular Indonesian tourist island on Sunday morning.

A Perth surgeon Grant Booth, who happened to be nearby, performed CPR on Kawa.

However, it is believed she went without oxygen for more than an hour waiting for an ambulance and then being taken to hospital.

A GoFundMe campaign was set up on her behalf, asking for donations to cover $42,000 for a Medivac flight to Perth and $18,000 to help with the medical bills, with the online campaign raising nearly $88,000 by Thursday afternoon.

The rest of the money will now go to charity.

Father Desmond Sweeney posted a photograph on Instagram of the toddler at Sydney's Newport beach, and thanked people for their support.

"So much love for our little girl," he wrote on Wednesday.

"We are overwhelmed by your prayers, thoughts and well wishes.

"They are getting us through this difficult time."
