How the AFL preliminary finals shape up

The top four teams have reached the preliminary final stage, with Adelaide playing Geelong and Richmond hosting GWS.

FRIDAY, Sept 22

1st Preliminary Final

Adelaide v Geelong at Adelaide Oval, 7.50pm

The Crows had a quick trip to the Gold Coast in the week off following their easy qualifying final win over GWS. They will start favourites, but the Adelaide Oval cauldron will hold few fears for the Cats, who are coming off an outstanding semi-final demolition of Sydney.

SATURDAY, Sept 23

2nd Preliminary Final

Richmond v GWS at the MCG, 4.45pm

Richmond's outstanding win over Geelong at the start of September took the finals monkey off their backs and now the Tigers are daring to dream. They deservedly are favourites. Dustin Martin is in peak form, but the Giants' 67-point rout of West Coast reminded everyone that if they click they are arguably the most talented team in the league.
