Queensland police believe a body found in Brisbane's southeast belongs to missing woman Naima Hassan.

Members of the public found the 27-year-old's body at the Sovereign Waters foreshore at Birkdale about 5.20pm on Tuesday.

Police established a crime scene and guarded it overnight as investigators await the results of a post-mortem examination and scientific testing to confirm the woman's identity and what caused her death.

Officers are conducting further searches of the area on Wednesday.

Ms Hassan was last seen by family members on Saturday morning.

She was later spotted at the BP at Wellington Point, while her car was found at the Wellington Point Reserve on Sunday.
