Workplace investigators are on the scene at a central Queensland transport company after two men reportedly died while they were cleaning a molasses tank.

A Workplace Health and Safety Queensland spokesman told AAP it had seized a "prime mover with a trailer carrying two transport tanks" following the death of the Sarina workers on Saturday night.

The Daily Mercury reported the men, aged 52 and 48, died after being affected by fumes while cleaning the tank.

Workplace Health and Safety Queensland investigators remain on site at the haulage company as they try to work out what caused the incident.

The spokesman could not confirm how the men died.
