A new report into Australia's higher education sector has found that, overall, the system is performing well.

The report by the Grattan Institute shows that Australian universities have improved on their position in recent years.

But despite outstanding research performance in some areas, student satisfaction with academic staff is still low when compared to other Western countries.

The Higher Education Program Director from the Grattan Institute, Andrew Norton, told Erdem Koc that the report aims to be part of a wider study.
