The aid agency Médecins Sans Frontières is accusing Syria's government of directly preventing medical treatment of injured people it suspects are linked to opposition forces.

The agency says while it's been prevented from working directly in Syria, it has collected testimonies from wounded patients treated outside the country and from doctors inside Syria.

MSF says those statements indicate wounded patients and doctors are being pursued and risk torture and arrest at the hands of the security services.

Deputy Director of operations Dr Greg Elder has told Nikki Canning, as a result, the injured are largely treated in clandestine facilities by doctors trying to fulfill their duty to provide medical assistance.
