Forum Australia organised an open forum in Canberra on Saturday 18 May 2013 discussing status of "Women in today's society". Gender equality, women liberation, freedom of expression, and educational status of women were explored in developing and developed societies. The luncheon meeting attended by more than 50 members and guests heard the views of a range of speakers belonging to different cultures and societies. Included among the speakers was Her Excellency Rima Alladeen, Ambassador of Jordan in Australia, who linked the women status with education and literacy in the society. Citing examples from Jordanian Society, Her Excellency opined that education, particularly that of women, can prove to be a powerful tool to raise the status of women.
