The views of Australians of Syrian background on Syria's present crisis are as varied as the situation itself is complex.
The impact of the conflict in Syria is reverberating in Australia, with protests, an attack on the embassy in Canberra, and a shooting in Sydney possibly linked to the Syrian violence.
Hundreds of protesters have gathered in Sydney and Melbourne to show their support for the Syrian people.
Mainly Australians of Syrian background, their views on Syria's present crisis are as varied as the situation itself is complex.
But there's one thing uniting the expatriates, no matter how lengthy or brief their residency in Australia: fear for their former home and concern for its future.
